OK: I use a Mini Aqua-Sun dive light which is about a 35 watt
light good for 50-60 minutes of bright light. Works great.
Only thing is that it -could- burn a bit longer, but that's OK
for now. On the bottom of the pistol grip I've got a dog-snap
and that snaps to a goodie bag (a yellow one for those who
know goodie bags by colors, green being large, yellow medium
and red small). I dunno why they are this way bit they are. In
any case the goodie bag is folded into its own mouth so it is
not as great a snagging hazard as it might be and it's snapped
to the bottom of the light. On the side of the light is a Underwater
Kenetics light saddle with a 4 cell Q light in it. This gives me a piggyback
light for backup. In penetration work I also carry another Q light on my
harness in the usual way. I've also mounted a knife on the light which,
since it's close at hand is usually the one that I go for. Again, there is
a backup (actually 2) on my body as well.

The goodie bag contains within it a cold chisel all rusty and foul in
the bottom, and a 3/8 inch diameter steel rod as a punch pin. This
is for knocking out porthole pins (like I find portholes more than once
in a blue moon, but I'm hopefull). In any case, once I find something
woth keeping, the bag gets opened and unfolded and viola: instant
snagging hazard. This even though I do not carry a large bag. But
even so it's maybe 18 inches long and of coures it's going to drag.
Plus it may end up with a 10-15 pound chunk of brass in it. In any case
it's nice at that time to be able to ditch the entire mess should I need to.
I've never needed to, but I can if I like. Whe I get to a work-site and
begin
digging, I'll lay the light on the bottom to illuminate my hole and use both
hands to dig.

The lanyard I use is one of the general type with the little sliding gizmo,
except I leave the loop diameter large enough that I can sort of pull
in my thumb and drop the rig without needing to loosen anything.
But with my hand opened in the normal way it cannot come off.

This is, BTW, the usual rigging way for loads of wreckers here and it
seems to have withstood the test of time quite well.

Now, I am looking at a canister light now due to the longer durations
I plan to dive, and I;m trying to figure out a way to handle the bag with
the same elan, while using a canister light. Thoughtfull suggestions?
