>Right again. Volvo is much safer. Don't drive your old Vw any more. Or as MA put it, "let them eat cake". I sometimes wonder if we wealthy gringos aren't updating that to "let them breathe helium?" When this subject has come up before here, people have been quick to post that they were on this or that expedition, and have never had any trouble getting He anywhere, but there's a big difference between arranging for a truckload for a one-shot expedition, with an American credit card in your hand, and someone trying to afford the stuff in say, Egypt, for everday diving, while living on the local economy. I know the answer is that if they can't afford it they shouldn't do the dives, but I gotta wonder what all the He mavens would all do if He suddenly became unavailable - say, if the US gov. decided they needed it for blimps again and froze the supply. Would the DIR community simply stop diving below 100 feet and stand by while the other folks had all the fun? My own suspicion is that, while we might not start repeating the lunacy of the pre-He days, after a little reconsideration, we would eventually decide that 150 (or 180 or 230 or......) wasn't really so bad, after all. -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
