Joel, Don't really want to start a back and forth email fight (hope that's not what it is). There are other emergencies other than out of gas. Someone could be spooked, feel sick, etc. There are other reasons why people shoot bags when there is no emergency. I typically try and bring the artifacts up with me. If I know I'll be shooting a bag for an artifact I'll being my hemp spool. Yes as indicated I try it a few times a year for practice. Usually I'll do this when it's not the greatest of wrecks. I'll let them know that I might shoot a bag and to just leave it there as I'm most likely on it, it's marked with my name. I think the whole point here is in an emergency. We agree 100% to do whatever means is easiest and lest problematic to get back on board safely. Not that I'm an environmentalist (not by a long shot, where are those disposable diapers damit!) but I don't think leaving nylon line strewed around the wrecks unnecessarily is a good idea. Stays there until someone removes it. There's enough stuff to get tangled in without the help of additional nylon rope. I don't know if adding to it is a "better way of doing it. It's only an emergency if you have no gas left ---- and if thats the case -- just leave the stupid thing there and get your ass up. As to using it -- sure I have you don't think I would comment on something I have not tried do you? I tried it on ten dives in 1990 -- it was convolution then as it is today. IF some still want to use it, well.... there are really better choices. regards Joel At 01:44 PM 5/12/1999 -0400, Paltz, Art wrote: >Have you ever tried it?
