RE>Training Agencies and Nitrox 12/5/94
Date:
>> NAUI specifically endorses it when training is conducted through one
>> of the two agencies ANDI or IANTD. I believe a NAUI specialty card
>> is available,
>They do, and it is (I have one). The YMCA and NASDS also offer Nitrox
>specialties under similar circumstances (Instructor is cross-trained
>by ANDI or IANTD, and uses appropriate training materials from one of
>those agencies).
I have one through NASDS (ANDI)
>In some cases, the additional "home" agency requirements are more
>strict than the "technical" agency requirements. For example, NAUI
>requires at least three OW dives for their specialty (this is true of
>all NAUI specialties, not just Nitrox).
>YMCA requires that the student diver has at least 20 dives prior to
>enrollment in the Nitrox course, and that all certification dives be
>done in accordance with the Navy *air* tables (i.e. dive the Nitrox
>as though it were air).
NASDS also requires that the NASDS *air* table (U.S. navy dive tables)
be followed while on Nitrox (also, no dives pass the air NDLs while on NTX)
>I'm not familiar with NASDS requirements, btu I imagine they are
>similar.
yes.
