To all subscribers: Today, a techdiver posting was forwarded to me. The posting, from = Michael Barnette said, in part: <"In any case, the powers that be have = no clue about the ramifications that this Bill would have (such as = enforcement). It would be basically status quo as the resources to = patrol the tens of thousands of wrecks that exist off our coasts DOES NOT = EXIST. Hell, they can't even prevent pillaging of the USS Monitor on = NOAA observed trips...."> I would like to request that Mike or anyone else having information about = "pillaging" or any other illegal activities at the Monitor National = Marine Sanctuary please report to me offline. Even if you are not able = or willing to give me names and details, I would still like to know of = any illegal activities at the Sanctuary. To the best of my knowledge, the recreational dive community has been = extremely cooperative and has respected the National Oceanic and = Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA's) efforts to protect the Monitor's = remains while, at the same time, providing access to the site. I welcome = all comments to the email address below. Thank you.
