> Mike, > The "world" does not revolve around diving. Most new divers have experienced > many other forms of instruction prior to diving, and the problem is, most > "ARE", "trust me, I'm the instructor" scenarios. It starts in elementary > school through college, and gets worse with each new sport they need > instruction for. You may find some examples of individual sports like > skydiving which may defy this trend, but the "masses" are used to "trust > me", and they don't question it. Easy to fix Dan. Day one. Line 2 of OW1. "Diving is dangerous. It will kill you if you do not respect it. YOU are where the buck stops. It does not stop with me, the instructor, it stops with you the student, the diver. Cavers have a saying. Any diver may call any dive, any day, any time, no questions. Do not do any dive for which you are not prepared." (line 1, was Hi, my name is Joe Instructor) Might seem severe for OW1, but so what. What's more Dan we are talking about technical instruction. Any "tech" diver (or student) SHOULD be able to take this speech very seriously. If they don't realize it, they need to stick to vacation resort diving. > Mike, what planet are you really from ? :-) The one where they have invented the better mouse and have yet to invent the better trap. The better mouse being a diver who gives a damn about himself. The trap being the water that will claim you if you don't. How are the mice doing on your planet Dan? sounds like a lot are getting caught.... Mike -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
