The bag goes up straighter than the anchor, so even if wind and/or current shift, I will most likely be upstream from the boat. If you surface downstream from the boat, you are more likely to need a line run out to you, if the current is too strong. I blow a bag at least twice per season for training, but always after agreeing with the crew that aspect of my dive plan.
