Just say no. >Agreed. Dear David: Your story echoed my personal and professional observations. DIN is a little more expensive, but I know is the right way to go. Also, this is not a perfect world, and just as much as the divers on this list are anal about gear maintenance and set-up, the rest of the world of recreational divers is not. The divers on this list probably have not problems keeping yokes in service and functioning like life support should. Great. And blowing a yoke o-ring when setting up or gearing up is not that big a problem, but in the water starting a dive, or on a dive, and thats a problem that can cascade into an incident/accident. I have seen people FREAK OUT in the water when they blow. No calm rational responce, sorting out the problem and dealing with it, they thrash around like weasels cought in a trap with no soultion thinking evident. Come to California, go to Casino Point Underwater Park any weekend, this is where I teach scuba to pay for the diving I love to do and to pay for the gear I need to do it. You will see this happen at least twice or four times a day. We've gone from two hose to one, J valves to SPG's, guessing about N2 to computers, even OC to CC for some, its now time for DIN universally. Shit, some of the cylinder that are being filled in dive shops and on boats are illegal to fill because they are rated higher that 3000 psi and we fill them with a yoke filler and a DIN adaptor, or they just have yoke valves. ScubaPro sells a 3300 psi cyinder with a yoke valve ( DIN with a screw-in adaptor much like OMS ), what do I tell the DOT when someone gets hurt ? Ditto for other manufacturers. Safe diving my friend. Kevin " You'll never miss the water, until the well runs dry . . ..
