Subject: Re: stage regulators: To Din or not to Din
I use them to avoid the o-ring annoyance. Some use the yoke so they can
change the regs more easily. Since stages and deco gas are always off
unless being breathed, when you turn them on , you risk the blow. The
captured DIN ring will leak if loose, but not extrude and blow. The yoke
will blow and ruin the ring or shed it many times, but then you can
carry orings and change them out, etc - not my solution.

I stopped using yoke on mandatory bottles the first time it happened to
me. I flipped the o-ring over and reused it to get out of the dive, but
did not like the experience. Almost all of my stuff is DIN, even my
argon bottle.
