george, i am convinced that diving deep air adds far more risks then is needed. it seems to me that many more of the guys coming out on the Doria are using mix rather than diving air. but i think that while the things you have mentioned are factors i really think that the main factor or biggest culperit is the greed factor. the divers that first come out need to be encoraged by the others in downplaying the artifact thing. the divers that start slowly & enjoy the wreck for what it has to offer in it's beauty & then get to be familiar with it & then dive with a buddy diffrent spots on her --learn. so far as i catell the two deths prior to this one fall into this catagory. they were diving mix (i don't know what the mix was-but i have to assume it was somewhat better than air). er all are on an edge in our dives, it only takes one extra mistake at the wrong moment (ie -your last 19 grand dive- had you missed that line & had to take ten or fifteen minutes in finding it-purhapse the results would have been different). we all have had problems the difference with us & some of the others is that we are not afraid to talk about them. we try to be open - because someone may catch on & learn from it. hank -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
