Subject: DIR harness question
I've got an AUL backplate and wings. (Great wings btw, very heavy duty)
When I bought the backplate it came rigged like the DR, with chest
strap, nipple rings, etc. I want to rig it DIR, with one piece webbing,
per the drawings on bentley's page. When I rig the shoulder straps
straight over the shoulders (no behind the neck Xover), the strap
bunches up on the outside of the strap and all of the load is on the
inside of webbing.
Questions:

1)Is this a problem or should I just forget about it?
2)Did I get the wrong backplate? Seems to me that if the diagonal slots
were cut at less of an angle, the webbing would come out at the correct
angle. I havn't seen any backplates cut this way however.
3)I have seen other peoples setups with a more flexable webbing (my
webbing is the really stiff thick stuff). The more flexable webbing
seems to bunch up more on the outside and looks like it would be less
likely to cut the webbing. Which is the better webbing to use here?

One last sort of related question. When wearing a weight belt with this
harness, most people I've seen wear it inside the crotch strap. Is this
optimal? Seems it would be easier to ditch if outside the crotch strap,
however much more hassle to put on (last) when on rocking boat.

If relevant, my normal setup is:
-Single LP 95 (will prob go doubles/manifold next year)
-AL 30 pony
-ponese pony bracket (rescue model allows very easy handoff of pony to
out of air diver.)
-jersey reel /w lift bag
-DUI CF200SE dry suit
-AUL backplate & wings (this wing works very well with a single with a
very minor modification to snug the bottoms of the wing in close to the
bottom of the tank- 2 grommets & 6" length of surgical tubing)
-homemade single mounting adapter made of 1/4" thick 4" wide alum. U
channel. Sides cut so that tank is only 1/2" away from the back of the
backplate. With shallow V backplate, fairly low profile.
-knife, light (UK1200 for now), bug bag, etc.

-environment: New jersy diving 80 - 120 ft breathing appropriate nitrox
or air.

Thanks
