I firmly believe that if you are going to do serious diving the direction of opening and closing a vale should be rather automatic. The last time I dived with a new cave buddy he asked me if I could turn ON his air. My reply was if you can't turn it on then how are you going to turn it off in a free flow situtaion? AND that last 1/3 is MY AIR. I helped him adjust his harness so that he could reach his valves and all went well. I have no problem turning my valves, but I have never tried it with mitts or three fingered gloves. r.b.
