Hmmm. I see signals vary greatly, too. We use two pulls for ok, because there isn't a chance of mistaking one pull for an ok signal. The diver discusses with the tender before the dive their preferences about how tight they like the line, how often they want to be ok'd, how fast to bring them in if they signal to come in. We use four pulls for "bring me in", and more than four repeated pulls for "bring me in NOW". I saw an interesting system of pulls in "Immersed" magazine, which was written for tethered river divers. It had pulls for (I think, it isn't sitting right here) I'm having problems, but don't need assistance yet, and send the safety diver in to give me a hand, and it's an emergency, get someone here FAST! But for our group, two different signals about covers it.
