It was designed and built by a Frenchman called Jean-Claude LePechon.
The system is a nitrox surface supplied semi closed system (although it
can be utilized for trimix & heliox). The system maintains a PpO2
setpoint of 1.6 bar by virtue of the FO2 of the supply gas being
variable and controlled by the divers depth. Essentially oxygen is
delivered into the system from 0 to 6 metres (20 feet) and decreases as
depth increases until it is zero at 50 metres (165 feet). Air is
delivered into the system as the diluent, none is injected from 0 to 6
metres and it increases as depth increases. By matching the increase in
air input to the decrease in oxygen input allows the system to deliver a
near constant PpO2. The system delivers pure O2 during initail descent
(6 metres) and decompression and a variable Eanx mix between 6 metres
and 50 metres.

Not sure as to the usefullness of such a system, bearing in mind it is
surface tethered. (look at the trouble Comex had in Fontaine Vacluse!!).
