Scott,
        FWIW I dive semi-closed (Drager Atlantis). 

How regular? - a couple of times per month

How useful? - They work, they are gas efficient etc, etc, etc.(you've
heard it all before!)

They are better than OC for some things, as good as OC for others and
not appropriate for some others. The question as to wether I dive it in
preferance is difficult (for the Drager at least) since it can't really
help me for deep wreck diving (apart from it being used on deco), it's
not much use for wearing whilst teaching folks(since you need to be
wearing the gear that they are - certainly on 'technical' stuff - hate
that word!). What it does allow is a weekends self sufficient diving.

looking for.
