I've had similar thoughts; I shopped the idea of doing moderate exercise during deco/safety stops (i.e., swimming in place) around among some ins- tructors I know. Consensus was that it -might- increase N2 outgassing, but could also lead to inaccurate depth-keeping. Seems like it might be a workable idea, though.
