| Phil, we are not talking rec diving. I would personally opt for the
aluminum
| 80, but whatever. For cave or wreck diving they are useless. If you only
need
| the gas of an al 80, then the hp steels are too heavy.

George: What you say makes no sense. The HP 80s are significantly lighter
and smaller than the AL 80s AND they are less boyant when empty which means
not only is your rig is more compact and lighter to carry on land but you need
less weight on your weightbelt. How can they be too heavy?

| If you are wearing a
| drysuit, the hp steel are too light, you need the pressed steel. If you have
to
| add weight and need gas, go with faber, if you don't need the gas, but do
need
| the weight, go with al 80 and weight between the tanks, or a weightbelt.

And why would you deliberately choose to carry a heavier tank which also
requires that you need to add more weight to it to make it neutral?

| The point is these tanks were not designed for special situations like you,
they
| were designed to legally confiscate peoples' money - they cost a fortune,
and
| when the first came out they were really expensive. - G

Granted, they cost about double what you pay for AL 80s but don't all steel
tanks cost about the same or higher? -K
