However: 1. Most that have learned to cope with adversity in a non-combat environment (including pararescue operations) do not consider environment an enemy to overcome/neutralize, but use as an ally. I am sure that numerous special operations & in particular clandestine operations take that approach as well. 2. Combat situations introduce a variable (force seeking to neutralize), while diving does not have that factor - even GW's can not be regarded as forces plotting to neutralize. 3. Diving does not take place in envrionments that are necessarily dangerous. They just have limited life support capability & thus intolerant of failure, probably more so than failed 'special operations'. (i.e. failed hostage rescue mission in Iran) 4. Though the cave diving community appears to firmly believe in 'two is one - one is none', other areas of diving do not necessarily espouse that concept when it comes to buddies. Self reliance is held ahead of buddy reliance 5. The fitness parameters are not necessarily the same (pretty successful 55 year old tek divers out there, not many special forces operatives of that age). Also probably less credence given to reflexive in the case of diving, even disawowed, as most of who have had to bail out of situtaions did it cooly, deliberately & relatively slowly (obviously OOA excluded in the slow, though actions again were deliberate). Otherwise some interesting parallels Regards Esat Atikkan
