You are missing my point.  The only way to insure that the reg being 
passed is working, is to be breathing off it.  I know  that we all 
periodically check our backup regs, but that won't cut it.  A fouled reg 
becomes fouled at some specific time.  If were breathing it, it's fixed, 
or the dive is called.  If were not breathing it, were betting that we 
discover the problem before our buddy.  It's an unnecessary gamble.
