The point that is being missed here is that a stressed diver should
only be handed a reg. that is in good working order.  If it is not 
the one being breathed by the doner, it is a guess that it will not
be fouled at the time of the pass.  If it is in fact fouled, the 
doner will most likly be in better shape to deal with a fouled 
reg -the backup- than the out of gas diver.  Thus, the the best choice
for sharing gas is to pass the one being breathed.
The doner will be out of gas for the same duration that it takes
to switch from back gas to a deco bottle.  if this is a concern, find
another hobby
