--=====================_80917257==_.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" I don't know your name, There is nothing I gain from a "title", if anything I lose several items by volunteering to help run an organization that represents cave diving. At least 5 times a year I drive to G'ville, stay there overnight, dive only once 5 hrs from home, when I could be in Tally diving and be home that evening. I answer countless emails and phone calls, deal w/ politicians, reporters, new cave divers, old cave divers, government employees, drive to other cities to attend political meetings, deal w/ lawyers, planners, finance people, land owners, scientists, and the general public. I have to conduct myself like an adult and a professional everywhere I go (natural occurrence), I can't laugh w/ my friends at what I see. I have to use tact in everything and with everyone. I (and all of us, some quite poorly I might add) represent cave diving. When the public sees one cave diver, they believe they have seen us all. Imagine if we all had your attitude or that of Bill Rennaker, where would be . . . in the ocean, because there would be no cave diving. There are several people in this sport and all of us have different opinions and wants. Luckily we live in a country that will allow us to express them. I do not agree w/ one word that Rennaker said (or any action that I have ever seen him take), and I am sure that the BOD does not agree w/ his statements either, but 5 of us have to get together and hash out one statement, it does not happen overnight. You are more than welcome to take my seat, I have more diving to do than I have time for and would like to get back to it, but there is a lot to do. You can't just walk around spouting off your "title", it takes effort, time, money, a huge amount of patience, and a large shaker of salt. By the way, you will get nothing in return for your efforts. All of this, plus team commitments in Tallahassee, school, work, research, wife, house, yard, etc. I do more than my share for cave diving, what have you done for it lately? Sincerely, Scott Hunsucker Director, NACD P.S. If a journal that represents its members prints a statement made by one member, it does not mean the organization condones the activity. I am surprised that the article was not prefaced w/ a disclaimer. However, anyone can write and submit articles for publication, including you. Put your opinions in print and send them around the world, stop spewing fluff on the net. >hey guys give it up...most if not all of the board members could care less >about anybodys safety....they only want the title....if anyone of them cared >they would start revolking training cards....but they don't...they only come >up with excuses why they can't or should'nt......it's just like >politics....we vote them in....and nobody wants to get together to >oust...these people.....just today i heard someone say they will continue to >solo because of the article in the journal....it seem the nacd must support >this idea....they printed it..... > >safe diving, and bring a buddy or stay home --=====================_80917257==_.ALT Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii"
I don't know your name,
There is nothing I gain from a "title", if anything I lose several items by volunteering to help run an organization that represents cave diving.
