          One reason that SS is preferable to brass is that brass
          snaps tend to cut the edge of your thumb where is rubs
          against the snap when pulling down the piston if you use
          them without gloves (and sometimes with).  This is due to
          the sharp edges on the slot in the body of the clip and can
          be fixed by rubbing these sharp edges with an abraisive.
          Someone recently suggested using the rough side of those
          green pan washing sponges.

          Stainless clips for some reason don't seem to have the sharp
          edges.  Must have to do with the way they're manufactured.
          They're really preferable for dive gear.  Of course, the
          down side to SS is the high cost when compared to brass.....
