Please note before reading: If not only you, but anyone that you might ever dive with or any Captain that might ever take you out has never made a mistake, then please read no further. For those that are interested in surface emergency gear, I saw what looked to be a fairly useful piece of modified equipment this last summer. It was one of those 4 c-cell type lights that had small emergency flares and, I think, dye markers in place of batteries and a standard compass glued(?) into the lens in place of the bulb assembly. This was worn opposite the backup light (in place of the secondary backup light) attached at the harness chest d-ring and trailing down under the arm where it was attached to the strap with a tank o-ring or bungee. Seemed like a fairly decent idea (although storing flares that way isn't very new). If you're bound to carry this stuff, you might as well make it do double, or triple duty. Comments (flames, if you feel you must)???
