As the topic currently seems to be on which reg to get...

I recently purchased 2 of the new batch of posiedon Triton regulators, in
fact I got the first two into the UK, with the old problems - flutter and
lock up, supposedly fixed. Their first real outing was during my full cave
course in Florida. Apart from an initial flutter when they were immersed -
they breathed nicely and supplied as much air as you wanted/needed to take
- which later proved to be more that you wanted/needed. After my first
dive I noticed that my main reg was releasing a very gentle but steady
stream of bubbles from the second stage. This could be stopped by gently
tapping the purge. However on my second dive - at 30m depth and a 20 min
penetration back into the cave the regulator started to free flow. On
breathing in it wouldn't stop and I had to tap the second stage hard to
stop the flow. This was only a temporary stop until my next breath in.
Then the free flow started again - and at 74 degrees it could hardly be a
result of freezing!! I switched to my back up reg - another Triton and
continued the exit from the cave without any further problems. The only
good point here was that it prevented the instructor from giving us an out
of air drill as I was effectivly already under stress and on my back up
reg. On the surface the main reg could be seen to be providing a much
stronger stream of bubbles and was making curious gurgling noises.

I had the reg looked at at Ginnie where it was cleaned just incase there
was some debris in the reg. On the next dive it seemd OK until just about
the turn point - then the free flowing started again. Needless to say when
that dive was finished I switched to a borrowed reg - a scubapro which I
found very comfortable - as there was no way I was going back into a cave
before the reg had been fully checked out.

The regs seem fine if you only want a short dive - but they start free
flowing far too easily after about 15-20 mins. Needless to say I have now
dropped off the regs at the dive shop to be sent back to the suppliers to
be checked out.

Has anyone else out there got one - I'm not sure they are available in the
US yet.
