  In Manchester (England) the police once did that, and they even let the
subject drive. That was not on the public road but on a bus drivers' training
enclosure. The subject was a BBC TV reporter, and the results were videoed and
shown on `Look North' a local TV news program). The car was dual-control with
a police driving instructor sitting in the other front seat to override the
controls if necessary.
