It was determined after careful study that one of the safest and most reliable sealing techniques, is the captured O-Ring method presently utilized on all DIN 477 standard 1st stage regulators. OMS valves use the same, exact captured O-Ring sealing method. Terho> It's not that simple ! The captured design alone don't help much if the other things are not designed properly. These other things include O-ring material and hardness, valve material and surface finnish quality, valve tolerances, shape and size of the ring slot, O-ring compression ratio and a special high pressure support ring beside the O-ring. I have seen many self-made lamps, etc. where these things are done poorly because people think that using O-rings is something very simple ! I have done professional O-ring design work and recommend strogly to think twice or get more information before self-made ring assemblies are designed. There're no reason to ruin good idea by poor implementation. All this is not related to OMS, I do not know how they have done it. I just wanted to point out few things for all self-made-men. Terho
