Subject: Rebreather avoidance
I saw a device on TV the other day that (at least for me) could do the job of
a rebreather. They wanted to collect the exhaust gases from a diver using
open circuit SCUBA. To do this the exhaust port ( and diaphram ) of the
regulator second stage was connected to a disk shaped object and then to
the surface. All exhaust gas was fed to the surface and none was discharged
into the water! I assume that the disk was some sort of depth compensated
pressure reduction valve which allowed the exhaust gas to vent to 1 ata without
causing a regulator lock up or free flow ( 2 things I have experience in
abundance while trying to create a similar device ). Does anyone know what
this device was, and where it can be obtained?
