George, we don't want to stay out of things we don't understand. We
want to know.

Well, this is not good. If they did something similar regarding the
cavers list, I think a lot of netters would like to know.

I think a lot of us want the answer to one simple question: Did Dive
Rite, or any of their employees while acting as company reps, take
actions such as complaining to the list owner or his management or
threatening legal action, etc., which Ken felt as pressure and which
contribited to his temporary closing of the list? We have one denial
indirectly from Dive Rite, but only regarding the actions of one
principal. How about the rest of the crew?

They have the same right to publically bitch about their products being
unfairly attacked as you have to complain about dangerous practices by
the agencies. They have the right to defend themselves. Sometimes, as
has been pointed out, this leads to a 'more heat than light' situation.
But at least you get some light.

I'll admit that I don't know what goes on in the cave diving community,
nor have I read the list, nor have I read the private e-mail, and I
haven't even tapped the telephone calls from dive rite to the University
of Florida. But the conversation leaked over here, and us lowly,
uninformed, stupid, incapable, untrained techdiver readers would like to
know.

No, not back. In any case, ho would a simple answer to a simple question
make matters worse?
