John Writes: > A hypothetical situation for those of you who care to partake: <snip> > What do you do? I don't let myself get into this situation to begin with. Screwups made: (1) A team should never ever ever split up during a dive. If they do, then they're not really a buddy team at all, are they. (2) Gas mismanagement. You shouldn't be out of air by the time you hit your 15' stop. Either have an extra bottle hanging, or be more conservative on the bottom. If you had an emergency and had to share air, someone would have drowned or gotten hurt real bad. There's no choice in this scenario. Unfortunatly the only thing you can do is go back to the boat, notify authorities, get more air, and go back down. You can't go down on pure O2 to 140', especially if you don't know what is going on. Your buddies might be fine, just lollygagging at 100' or so. If you try to go down that deep on pure O2 there will definatly be at least one fatality.
