Subject: Homebrew MR(x) bulb divelight head found at hardware store?

Attention gear homebrewers!

I know several people on this list who are currently or have done their
own MRx bulb divelights (=E0 la DiveRite). And it's quite a job just to
machine the light head/handle...

Browsing through a huge hardware store, I came accross "submersible
spotlights" who are made for pond lighting. They use MR reflector light
bulbs, and I looked at the design as closely as I could, and the no-frill
design (it is made to be submerged, so it does not need fancy art-deco
wings) seems that it could very well withstand deeper depths than the 20 cm
depth it is designed to operate.

That is, it is a 8x8cm canister with a flange on which is screwed a big
washer (for lack of a better term) holding a glass, and a sealed wire
passthrough, with two bolts sticking to fasten to the base.

wire comes in |=3D|=3D| <-* The glass holder is held
    here =3D=3D=3D        | | |   |  by 4 screws, and extends
     *=3D=3D=3D|=3D|=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D| | | | between the two=
 arrows.

     | | | | |
     | 2 screws | | | | The hole is slightly larger
     | O stick | | | | than the MRwhatever reflector
     | out here | | | | lightbulb inside.
     | | | | |
     | | | | <--
     *=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D| | |
                    | | |
                    |=3D|=3D|

It seems to me that this canister alone would save a lot of the trouble
machining a "dive-rite like" lamp head; of course, I suppose that the wire
passthrough would need to be replaced. Even so, I don't think it would add
significantly to the $38 (canadian) price sticker for the lamp...

Presumably, the small size would make it ideal to be mounted on a helmet,
or maybe mounting a bank of them around a video camera.

Of course, a suitable handle has to be fashioned, but I think it's a
trivial design point...

Jesus may love everyone, but when this Jesus instills hatred in
people to the point of having them kill each other for Jesus's
sake, this could be a good reason to have Jesus outlawed.
