I also have bought some DCIEM tables (obtained from Dive Experience,
Williamstown, Melbourne, Australia for any locals) for the same reason as
Dan - reading John Lippman's book (I highly recommend it). I have also seen
the DCIEM tables advertised under a NASDS heading, so they may be available
from that source as well.

I also have the PADI RDP (on which I was trained) and Dr Max Hahn's Deco '92
tables (German). I have generally dived the Deco '92 tables and found them to
be more conservative than the PADI RDP for most profiles, however they outgas
totally in 6 hours (justified by the conservative first dive decompression
avoiding VGE which slows outgassing considerably). In contrast, the DCIEM
tables take anything up to 18 hours to outgas completely. I have re-calculated
some of my two-day dive sequences on the DCIEM tables and often found that they
would have limited my diving on the second day more than either the RDP or the
Deco '92 tables (which generally indicate that you are clear of N2 after an
over-night surface interval). Hence, if I was going to do a live-aboard trip,
I would probably use the DCIEM tables as they seem to be the only ones to
limit multi-day diving (I understand the NAUI tables also do this, but I have
never used them).

The only problem with the DCIEM tables is the need to multiply the bottom
time by the repetitive factor rather than adding a RNT. This makes mental
calculation with them a little more challenging!

Cheers,

David.
