Rod, In a message dated 95-09-29 08:36:51 EDT, you write: >What is the water temperature in Lake Michigan and Lake Ontario at the >warmest time. Surface and bottom (give depth). When is the warmest time? I'll pretty much concur with Gary & Clifford, based on my experience in Lake Superior. Down deep, it stays pretty close to 37-38 degrees F, which I believe is the temp at which water is most dense. August is warmest, in Superior the surface temp may reach 70 F, with one or two thermoclines at varying depths depending on weather. This summer it was about 50 F above 75 feet, and upper 60s F above 30 feet - we were sweating on the hangs! >Where? Specifically, what is temp at 100, 200, 300 feet. Guestimate temp >at 200 and 300 during warmest period. Temp at these depths is going to be _cold_ - very likely 37 degrees F, no matter what time of year. Maybe warmer at 100 feet in later summer. Are you planning to do some Great (Lakes) diving? What, and put your DIVER status (per your measurement standard ;-) in jeopardy?
