Tim SCUBA's comments about doffing the full-face mask (FFM) and doing a 
bare-faced assent reminds me of what I decided to do if I were ever 
diving seriously cold (for me, that's <30 F) water deep, which I would 
not do without my FFM: I decided I would carry my low-profile Dacor 
Nautica in a BC pocket so that, if I had to resort to the pony, I'd still 
have a mask.

But! I haven't done it yet, so I don't know how practical it is in 
reality, narced and additionally shocked by the cold water on my face. Has 
anybody out there tried it?
