>Has anyone heard of or seen a heads-up mask display >for SCUBA divers? I don't know of any head up displays, but in a simpler vein, I have seen footage of a prototype underwater computer being developed in Queensland for reef research. It is made up of a PC in a housing which attaches to your cylinder, with a chordal keyboard (five button keyboard for data entry, "chords" give you the equivalent of a full computing keyboard) which is about the size of a large gauges console, and a small, matchbox sized screen which attaches to the side of your mask. The screen is meant to easily fill your field of vision when you focus on it, and otherwise is just in your peripheral view. I saw this on Quantum (a Beyond "insert your favourite time reference here" like show) and of course missed the useful information of who was making this. If anyone on the group knows more about this, I'd be happy to hear about it. It would sure make surveying easier. Greg Ryan gregr@cs*.su*.oz*.au*
