> Stop bashing each other and let's talk about > the real issues that effect our safety. > > Charlie Priestley Hi Charlie and a sincere welcome to the list. As you noted it gets kind of weird here sometimes but the information and exchanges are good if you are able to sift through the noise. Regarding your last comment...most of the bashing occurs because we ARE talking about the issues that affect our safety. For example, there is one camp (of which I am a proud member) that believes strongly in limiting ppO2s and ppN2s to 1.4 ATA and 4.0 ATA respectively. We adhear to these standards for safety...ours! There is another group who feel strongly that divers have the right to do "anything they damn well please" to quote one member. Thus the flames and bashing begin. The truth of the matter is that both groups are 100% correct. I will dive with the standards that I believe in, based upon my experiences and the information I have been priviledged to learn. The other group, call them group 2, will dive any way they damn well please. There is nothing necessarily wrong with either philosophy, except that some members from group 2 occasionally find it difficult to make the same number of ascents as descents. This looks bad for all of us since the outside world tends to group us all together and label us all lunatics. I for one am proud to call myself a techdiver (whatever that is). However, I do everything I can to ensure that my kids still have a father at the end of each dive. Win Remley Co-Publisher, DeepTech Journal deeptek@ao*.co*
