I think it was plummed to over 900 feet, and they seemed to think the
bottom sloped off at that point (I don't know why they thought that - I'd
have to look up the paper). As for artifacts, I think they'd either be in
the upper 150 feet (where the bottom is sloping), or down at the bottom. 
I don't think I'll ever want to go in there (except maybe in a newtsuit).
