Yes, placing light heads is all about using the hands for other things.And the divers' head (pate, noggin, tete), which some divers don't use for anything else, is a good place to mount lights. ;-) Drawback: when going deep, that's a bad place to have something implode. Clark Pitcairn had one, which was mounted on his helmet, collapse during a dive on the '87 Wakulla Project and his ears rang for quite some time. Made is heart rate go up pretty fast too, as you can imagine. Also, when the light head is close to your eyes, the backscatter from silt can be quite disturbing -- same reason that camera-persons usually keep lights as far as possible from the camera itself.
