Nick, it's not the "stupid" things that get me, it's either the dangerous, which most are not guilty of, or the attacks, which seem to follow every thing I say that soes not reflect the teachings of these agencies. IANTD and Mount are the absolute worst offenders in the misinformation arena. I will give you and an example. Six yers ago, I was at a NACD training committee meeting with at which Mount, who was then the NACD "training director" was irately opposed to the publication of Bill Gavin's thirty-page chapter on gear rigging. In this now suppressed chapter are detailed explanations of and reasons for EVERYTHING we do. Parker Turner tried to reason with Mount, saying, "Tom, please come up to Tallahasse and dive with us (WKPP), and let us show you what is going on in cave diving now", to which Mount agrily relied that he had done some thousands of cave dives over some thirty years and that he could "out breath " Bill Gavin by Tai Chi breathing, and that Jim Lockwood was the best cave diver in the world and that he and Lockwood had done all kinds of wonderful things, and that he did not agree with our methods at all. What happens is that people get taught things differently than we do it. We are highly visable. They ask their instructors why we do it differently, they say because we are dangerous idiots, and this is what gets aimed at me when I say something. I also have a blunt manner, and this gets seems to embolden them to express what they were thinking all along. It' s OK to flame me, I think it is actually pretty funny. What we really need is Sankey to get cranked up . He can deaql with the crybabies that keep threatening to get off the list because of me. I see them say this, but they fail to invoke the "U" word. I have a contest going, and those who fail to actually bail out are hurting my results. The last time we did this, we got much better "turnoff" with much less flaming. You guys are going to let Sankey beat me , again. - George
