I posted private e-mail to George for slamming someone I knew to be a
long time contributor to the list for no reason. George responded both
to me personally, and to the list, indicating that I was now on his
enemies list and that I should watch any diving related postings I made.

I posted an ill-advised response to his posting for which I apologize, not
for the content, but for the fact that I posted it to the list.

In response, I got several private pieces of e-mail, agreeing with my
stance, and several publically posted pieces of e-mail flaming me and
(sometimes) everyone else involved in the 'testosterone exchanges'.

Someone from AOL posted a partial distortion of a conversation I had with
them after they posted a test to the hypbar-l list, an action I considered
indescribably rude.

However, another thing happened. Several people posted their feelings
(which actually closely match mine) that they would prefer that George
contribute positively to the list. And amazingly, George did so. I
wouldn't have predicted it.

Well, I've been wrong before. I know exactly what it feels like. George
was just waiting for us to ask him to contribute.

George, please accept my apology. I'm being serious. I hope that you'll
continue to be a positive contributor. Because there are lots of us who
are very suspicious of the institutions that are currently pushing tech
diving training and who want the alternate viewpoints and open discussion
to which you can contribute.

And try to be gentle when we say stupid things.
