I'd classify this as 'engineering for the worst case'. It's only a concern
in the event of a double failure (your partner and your primary reg).

If my partner has a problem, we're going to the surface. The chance of
me having a simultaneous failure during the ascent is small enough that
I'm willing to stop diving before I begin to worry about it. I suspect
that the probability of a low pressure hose failure on my main *while*
someone is using my pony is about equal to the probability of a low
pressure failure on my safe second *while* I'm using my primary (and
someone else is using my pony).

All that aside, I don't plan on sharing air. The pony is mine. Get your
own :).
