Hi, Art, and welcome to the techdiver list. For non-penetration diving, one's kit is influenced only by the water conditions (i.e. temperature, currents, visibility, depth, etc.) since what you are doing, essentially, is swimming around a man-made reef. There are some hazards, such as fishing line draped over the wreck, that you need to watch for. Make sure that you're carrying a sharp knife for cutting this stuff. There's also a new line that's been discussed slightly caled "spider wire" that is apparently nasty stuff. It's strong and invisible. Make sure that you have a serrated blade on your knife (the normal "notch" type line cutter apparently doesn't cut the stuff). It sounds like you're taking it easy on the depth - that you're progressing slowly to deeper water. This is an admirable thing to do. While you're going deeper, don't forget to evaluate not only your own state of mind, ability, etc., but also your buddy's on a constant basis - they may narc without ever knowing it. But you asked about gear: I'm not sure what you have in your kit, but my wrecking (non-penetration)/deep kit contains the following: 1 DUI Dry Suit (although in my younger, bolder, days I used a Body Glove wet suit) 1 ScubaPro Mk10 first stage on my main tank 1 Scuba-Pro G250 second stage and one Sherwood Shadow second stage attached to the Mk10 1 Viking first stage attached to pony bottle 1 Viking Odin second stage attached to the pony bottle. 1 Zeagle BC Mask and fins to taste. 1 SPG and compass (for navigating) 1 Suunto Solution dive computer 1 Citizen Aqualand watch (contains depth gauge on the watch) 1 Beuchat Aladdin dive computer (backup to the Solution) 1 set of dive tables that go under water with me 2 slates for communication and note taking (they're bound together like a spiral notebook 1 UK1200 Dive light (Used for night diving, non-penetration wreck diving, and penetration wreck diving) 2 Knives (one small one on my thigh and a teeny one on my BC in case I ever get into a situation where I can't get to the one on my thigh) Gak! I had never listed it all out like that before! -- Kevin -- I'll get around to it today -- for sufficiently large values of "today"
