Subject: Time:4:28 PM OFFICE MEMO Introduction Date:8/31/95 Hi, I've just subscribed to Techdiver and thought I'd introduce myself. My wife and I were SSI AOW certified one year ago and have logged almost 50 dives together in Hawaii, Bonaire and the Dutch Springs quarry in Bethlehem, PA. We've recently been introduced to Atlantic wreck diving and have 4 dives so far, 2 on the "Dykes" and 2 on the "Stolt". While we like diving the quarry because it is close to us and very controlled, we found our first wreck dives to be a lot of fun and very interesting. The Dykes didn't require us to push our depth limit, which at the time was 80 feet (we reached that in Bonaire - talk about different conditions!). On the Stolt we did extend our limit a bit, but we still stayed above 90 feet. Those dives seemed way too short. So, why am I interested in Techdiver? I don't know if we'll ever get into wreck penetration or cave diving, but we intend to take a cavern and cave course some time in the future to sharpen our skills and as an introduction to overhead environments. We're also curious about mixed gas diving, particularly Nitrox. I am very interested in diving physiology, but I lack any background in general human physiology to use as a foundation. We did buy our first scuba "kits" this spring, including computers. All that's left to purchase for for the kind of diving we've been doing is cylinders and perhaps pony bottles. Tina chills easily and wants a drysuit, so that may be in the cards too. We wonder if the gear we have will really be satisfactory for wreck diving. What additional equipment is neccessary for non-penetration wreck diving? =Art=
