In-Reply-To: <199508232142.RAA121853@te*.ga*.ne*> Some further information on the recent oxygen toxicity incident in Ireland: The diver concerned, Jamie Powell, appears to have made a full recovery. Jamie is an experienced and capable diver, both deep (and shallow) air and trimix. He has done approximately 12 dives on the Lusitania, for example. As far as I know he has not shown any previous symptoms (even mild ones) of oxygen toxicity. The gas mixes used were trimix 12/43 for bottom mix, with deco mixes of air (first stop up to 24m), nitrox 50 (21m to 9m) and 100% oxygen (6m & 3m). Bottom time was about 20 minutes (leave surface to leave bottom). At the time of the incident the deco station was drifting with the tide, ie no relative current for the divers. Full details of the deco station can be had in various magazine articles on the June 1994 expedition, but it was basically a large affair with one buoy/ down line per two divers, and carried the staged oxygen cylinders. Weather conditions were good, ie calm and sunny. The water temperature during decompression was 18 deg C, which is warm by UK/Irish standards. Dave Wilkins, on behalf of those involved. ps most sorry to hear of the death of Cory Berggren.
