Richard, as I am sure you know, fully closed circuit rebreathers are
electronically controlled. The oceanic unit is also computer controlled. Now
all <<real>> tech divers know how well dive computers work on deep dives,
(yeah
right) the diff is now your life support is reliant on the operation of the
computer. (remember what happened to your Bridge at 99mtrs? A pico at 60 mtrs?
) I don't think Oceanic dive computers are highly regarded among tech divers.
Why should the breather computer be any different? Is a useless computer made
anymore reliable by having triple redundancy?

I too saw the Oceanic breather in Sydney, and attended the seminar. I have
never seen as much misinformation in 30 minutes. No one else at that seminar
seemed to notice. Therein lies the problem: salesmen and tech instructors
thinking they know it all, and Joe Diver beleiving what the experts have to
say. I like some of these guys, but have never heard them say "I don't know".

The German navy breather instructors must have 10 years of experience diving
and supervising breather operations before qualifying to be instructors. While
I don't expect tech agencies to wait ten years before training instuctors,
currently the three tech agencies are scrambling to establish breather
instructors and writing courses. They just aren't qualified to do this.

Someone let me know of a tech agency director/instructor who is.

I don't think any harm can come from stating facts. Rebreather instructor
trainers are walking around now with 4 breather hours, in a one week course. A
breather training course has been written by individuals in a tech agency whom
have not dived a rebreather. (One pool dive does not count.) These people are
consciencous, but surely their training would be worthless? What value for
money will divers get? How can you benifit from the instructors experience?

As is now becoming apparent, the end users need to let instructors know what
they expect, and it's not what the agencies have in mind...

BTW We have not heard on the net any comments from Cis-Lunar, if Rich was not
diving one I'd think they were just a media beat up. Whats with the secrecy? Do
you guys want to sell any units?
