Subject: Drift Deco Diving
Dear Wreck divers

Being mostly a cave diver, I dive very few wrecks in comparison, also the
Gulf of Mexico is not noted for its currents. As for decompression in a cave
with strong currents one can usually find a hole to stuff themselves in.

I was out diving last week over in Pompano Beach on a wreck called the Hydro
Atlantic. (great dive for beginner tech divers) The current was going along
at a pretty good pace, (which I had planned for) so I brought along my lift
bag, reel, and Jon line.

After doing a 50 minute dive on the wreck we had to do that damb thing called
decompression for another 70 minutes.

In Issue #3, I would like to write an article on drift diving and
decompression procedures.

The question is:
What procedures, equipment, precautions do you use when planning a dive with
strong currents?
Do you plan your dive so that all divers will be exiting the wreck at the
same time?
Do you take down the float line with you and clip it to the wreck?
Do you just drift descend to the wreck and then pop your lift bags at the end
and drift deco?
What emergency procedures do you plan for if you or a team member gets
separated and blown from the wreck?
If using mixed gas, what do you do with your stage tanks?
If using a down line, do you use knots or rings in the line?
What procedure do you use for deploying your lift bag?
Do you use a wreck reel?

Well the questions could go on and on

P.S. If anyone has a few good slides or photos of techdivers on a drift line
and would like to see them in DeepTech issue #3 with credits, please let me
know.
