Heating is due to a reaction dependant on CO2, which is produced at a limited 
rate. I'd be pretty surprised if you could insulate everything (hoses and all) 
so well as to cause heat to be a problem. I could be wrong.

I just love being in cold water with a fresh, hot fill off a boat compressor
and 
putting a nice blast of it into my drysuit.

Don't have it handy, but the SodaSorb people have a really nice booklet I
picked 
up at tek. It went into the history of rebreathers, including some really
simple 
push-pull stuff used by early anesthetists to conserve gases. It also had a lot 
of spec on their material, some of which turned *temporarily* blue when it was 
fully consumed.
