I don't have enough first-hand experience to form an opinion about whether or not there is a correlation between "intelligence" (however it is defined) and narcosis tolerance. However, I do believe that narcosis can cause permanent brain damage (no controlled studies that I know of, but a few convincing experiences). If this turns out to be true, then I guess the intelligence/narcosis tolerance correlation would be sort of self-adjusting, wouldn't it?
