* * * PRESS RELEASE * * * "The Starfish Enterprise", the team which dived the Lusitania experienced an equipment failure incident on Tuesday May 9th. On the way to a dive site out of Littlehampton (south coast of England), a high pressure hose on a therapeutic oxygen cylinder failed, causing a fire to start on the diving charter vessel MFV "Michelle Mary" (which is run according to the latest Code of Practice). The fire was brief but intense. Damage to the boat was cosmetic and there was extensive damage to some personal diving equipment. The fire was put out using water and AFFF Fire Extinguishers. One of the people fighting the fire received minor burns to his right forearm and left elbow but was discharged from hospital after treatment the same day. * * * Ends * * * Dave Wilkins.
