Some more interesting information.  Only one diver was originally pulled into
the hydraulic.  The other three were trying to save him and two of them died
trying.  The original diver saved himself although he was completely exhausted.

These "divers" were not diving, they were floating along in wet and dry suits.
An expert said that physically going in to get the victims caught in the
hydraulic is not an option.  The only way to save them is a throw rope/bag or
the like that they grab onto.  They can only be pulled from the cycling
water when they come off the bottom themselves, just before they're pulled back
in.  Otherwise, you'll succeed only in pulling the rope away from them as the
force of the water can't be fought directly.

So think before you get yourself killed trying to save someone.  They might
live on their own while you die or you both die...
