I would certainly say that very deep diving is one form of technical 
diving.  My definition is that technical diving is diving beyond the 
scope of recreational diving (i.e. beyond the limits or with equipment
beyond that used for recreational diving). Some examples include diving
deeper than 130 feet, decompression diving, diving with non-air mixtures,
using rebreathers, just to name a few.

But this brings up an interesting point.  Anyone else care to give us
their definition of technical diving?
